The Gallery
The Gallery consists of computational and experimental still images and videos submitted by attendees of the meeting. A panel selects outstanding entries based on artistic value, scientific content, and originality. The award-winning entries will be announced on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 during the 10:10 - 10:30 break in the Ballroom of the Convention Center. The winning entries will be displayed at the Annual APS Meeting in March 2010 and will appear in Physics of Fluids, September 2010.
To Submit
Interested participants must complete the Intent to Submit form by September 14, 2009. At least one author of each entry must be a registered attendee of the meeting. The Gallery will be located in the Ballroom of the Convention Center.
Please review the instructions below. Entries not adhering to the instructions will be rejected at the organizers' discretion.
Poster Instructions
Format
- Size 4 feet x 4 feet. One-half of an 8-foot long x 4-foot high foam core board, velcro and pushpins will be provided.
Content
- Posters should contain photographs and/or graphics along with brief explanatory text and the names and affiliations of all authors.
- Multiple entries by the same authors must contain different artwork.
Logistics
- The Gallery will be located in the Ballroom of the Convention Center.
- Posters must be placed in the Gallery either Saturday (November 21, 2009) 5:30 - 8 PM, or Sunday (November 22, 2009) 7:30 AM - 9:00 AM.
- Place poster in section marked "Gallery of Fluid Motion". Do not place in section marked "Session L1 Poster Session".
- Mount poster in numbered space reserved for it. See here to obtain your poster's number.
- Posters must be removed by 12:00 noon, Tuesday, November 24, 2009.
- At least one co-author must attend the meeting.
Video Instructions
Length
- No more than 3 minutes.
Content
- Begin with title page (video title, contributor names & affiliations) followed by video.
- Black & white, or color are both acceptable.
- No audio.
Format
Submit the following two video files:
- mpeg-1 (file-size less than 10MB for display on DFD website).
- mpeg-2 with a maximum resolution of 1024x768 pixels (for display at the meeting).
Submission Process
- Submit 'Intent to Submit' form.
- Create mpeg-2 and mpeg-1 versions of video.
- Create short abstract describing video. Click here for a latex template.
- Upload video to eCommons and your abstract to arXiv. For instructions, click here.
- Submit 'Final Submission' form. This requires the URL provided via email when video is uploaded to eCommons.
